In alignment with the school curriculum, the Education Bureau (EDB) organises “Mainland Exchange Programme for Senior Secondary School Students (2017/18)” (the Programme) with an aim to provide different learning experiences for students to deepen their understanding of the history, culture, technology and economic development of the Mainland.


The Programme provides 5 routes in the period between September 2017 and August 2018. Each route lasts for 4 or 5 days.  Please refer to Annex 1 (Chinese version only) for details.


1)      The Tour of Geology and Environmental Conservation in Zhangjiajie and Changsha of Hunan Province

2)      The Tour of Culture and Water Conservancy Construction of the Three Gorges in Wuhan and Yichang of Hubei Province

3)      The Tour of History, Culture and Water Resource Management of Yellow River in Zhengzhou and Luoyang of Henan Province

4)     The Tour of History, Culture and Maritime Silk Road of Fujian Province

5)     An Exploration into the History and Technology of Beijing


Schools may apply for joining more than one route and can nominate a maximum of 176 participants (160 senior secondary school students and 16 school teachers) per route. Schools can encourage students who have not participated in Mainland exchange programmes before to join, and participation is on a voluntary basis.  The itineraries and other information of these 5 routes are listed at Annex 2 (Chinese version only).


EDB has commissioned a service provider to conduct the Programme. Interested schools can download the application form from the website of the service provider. The completed application form should be returned to the relevant service provider by fax at least 12 weeks prior to the departure of the study trip they intend to join.
