On 26th February 2016, we, a group of S4 students went on a trip to Nansha and Qianhai as an activity organized by our Economics and BAFS departments during the Business Week!
We were so surprised to see Dr. Catherine Chan, the Deputy Secretary for Education (Curriculum & Quality Assurance Branch) on our coach that morning! She, along with Mr Mak Ping Sum, the senior inspector on Students Mainland Exchange Programme accompaniedus during the whole trip. We were so nervous!
When we arrived there, we first attended a seminar about the economic development of Nansha and Qianhai and visited the Nansha Science & Technology Museum, Qianhai Exhibition Hall and APT Electronics Ltd.
In the afternoon, we went to the Qianhai Exhibition Hall and Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Youth Innovation and Entrepreneur Hub.
The seminar and visits were very informative. Currently, Nansha and Qianhai rely heavily on their manufacturing industries. They are important places for China’s economic reforms. The Chinese government is planning to set up a Qianhai court and considers using Hong Kong's legal system for arbitration cases. Therefore, more and more Hong Kong companies and entrepreneurs will set up their businesses in Nansha and Qianhai. It’s like a special economic region.
Five years later, Nansha and Qianhai will turn into very advanced and developed cities. In addition, the development on financial, banking and tourism sectors will grow rapidly.
It’s such a lot of new things that we learnt on this Mainland Exchange Tour. The trip was fun and meaningful with the company of the teachers and the senior EDB officials. What an experience!
