Short-haul High Speed Rail Mainland Exchange Programme - An Exploration into the Innovation and Technology Industry, Further Studies and Career Opportunities in Xiamen (2023/24)

Summary

This circular memorandum invites secondary (including special schools) to nominate Secondary 1 to 6 students and teachers (including principals) to participate in the captioned programme.

Details

It has been set out in the Chief Executive’s 2023 Policy Address set out that more opportunities will continuously be provided for students to participate in the Mainland study tours. The targets include reserving adequate places for all students in publicly‑funded schools to participate in at least one subsidised Mainland exchange programme each in their primary and secondary stages under the Mainland Exchange Programme for Junior Secondary and Upper Primary Students and the Mainland Exchange Programme for Secondary School Students.

The Education Bureau (EDB) organises the “Short-haul High Speed Rail Mainland Exchange Programme-An Exploration into the Innovation and Technology Industry, Further Studies and Career Opportunities in Xiamen (2023/24)” (the Programme).  The Programme aims at enhancing students’ understanding of the development of innovation and technology industry of our country, the opportunities brought about by the related industry, and the prospects for further studies and career development in the Mainland.

EDB has commissioned a service provider to organise the three day tour between February and August 2024 for Secondary 1 to 6 students to join.  Please refer to Annex 1 (Chinese version only) for details of the Programme and application procedures, and Annex 2 (Chinese version only) for the itineraries and further information of the tour.

Student participation is on a voluntary basis.  Schools should proactively encourage students who have not participated in any Mainland exchange programmes to join the Programme. 

Schools intending to nominate students to participate in the Programme may download the application form from the website of the service provider from 1 February 2024.  The completed application form should be returned to the service provider by fax within the specified period of time [Please refer to Annex 2 (Chinese version only)] before the planned departure date of the tour.
