Beijing, Hong Kong and Macao Student Exchange Summer Camp (2024)

Summary

This circular memorandum invites secondary schools to nominate Secondary 4 and 5 students and teachers (including principals) to participate in the captioned Summer Camp.

Details

The "Beijing, Hong Kong and Macao Student Exchange Summer Camp (2024)” (the Summer Camp) is jointly organised by the Beijing Municipal Education Commission, the Education Bureau (EDB) of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and the Education and Youth Development Bureau of the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region.  The Summer Camp aims to provide exchange opportunities for students from Beijing, Hong Kong and Macao, and to deepen their understanding of the history and development of the three places.

The 6-day Summer Camp will be held in Beijing from 26 to 31 July 2024 with the participation of approximately 180 secondary students and teachers from Beijing and Macao.  Hong Kong has a quota of 80 students and 8 teachers.  The Summer Camp consists of thematic talks, visits to higher education institutions, historic monuments and cultural exchange in Beijing.  Each school can nominate altogether at most ten Secondary 4 and 5 students and four teachers (including principals) for the Summer Camp.  For schools having both student and teacher nominations, their students will be given higher priority in the selection process.  Schools are invited to encourage suitable students to join the Summer Camp, and all participation is on a voluntary basis.  Details and application procedures are at Annexes 1 to 5 (Chinese version only).

Interested schools are requested to download the e-application form from the “Passing on the Torch” website (a sample appended at Annex 4 for students and Annex 5 for teachers, Chinese version only) and refer to the details of operation on the webpage.  Please return the completed e-application form to the Life-wide Learning and Mainland Exchange Section 2 of EDB by email (bhm@edb.gov.hk) on or before 27 May 2024 (Monday).  Late submissions will not be accepted.
