Organised by the Education Bureau (Applicable to Primary and Secondary Schools)

Mainland Exchange Programme for Students An Exploration into the Sports Culture and Marine Technology in Qingdao (2023/24)

Summary

This circular memorandum invites secondary schools to nominate Secondary 3 to 6 students and teachers (including principals) to participate in the captioned programme.

Details

It has been set out in the Chief Executive’s 2023 Policy Address that more opportunities will continuously be provided for students to participate in the Mainland study tours.  The targets include reserving adequate places for all students in publicly‑funded schools to participate in at least one subsidised Mainland exchange programme each in their primary and secondary stages under the Mainland Exchange Programme for Junior Secondary and Upper Primary Students and the Mainland Exchange Programme for Secondary School Students.

The Education Bureau (EDB) organises the Mainland exchange programme for students entitled “An Exploration into the Sports Culture and Marine Technology in Qingdao (2023/24)” (the Programme).  In line with the curriculum, the Programme aims to help students understand our country’s development in marine technology, the sports culture in Qingdao and the learning and daily life of Mainland students specialising in sports, with a view to cultivating students’ perseverance, proactiveness and other positive values and attitudes in the face of various challenges in life and study.

This is a 5-day programme scheduled for 6 to 10 May 2024.  Details and application procedures are attached at Annexes 1 to 3 (Chinese version only).

Student participation is on a voluntary basis.  Schools should proactively encourage students who have not participated in any Mainland exchange programmes to join the Programme.

Each school can nominate at most two groups of participants (each group consists of 10 Secondary 3 to 6 students and 1 teacher) for the Programme.  Participants must be physically fit and in good health condition as they will participate in sports skills training and friendly matches with the Mainland students in the Programme.  Priority will be given to applications with more nominations of students of school sports team, students taking relevant senior secondary subjects (including Applied Learning courses) and teachers of Physical Education.  Interested schools are requested to return the completed application form (Chinese version only) to the Life-wide Learning and Mainland Exchange Section 2 of the EDB by email (cdolwlme27@edb.gov.hk) on or before 8 March 2024 (Friday).  Late submissions will not be accepted.
