Organised by the Education Bureau (Applicable to Primary and Secondary Schools)
Mainland Exchange Programme for Students An Exploration into the History, Culture, Natural Resources and Conservation in Ningxia (2023/24)
Summary
This circular memorandum invites secondary schools to nominate Secondary 3 to 6 students and teachers (including principals) to participate in the captioned programme.
Details
It has been set out in the Chief Executive’s 2023 Policy Address that more opportunities will continuously be provided for students to participate in the Mainland study tours. The targets include reserving adequate places for all students in publicly‑funded schools to participate in at least one subsidised Mainland exchange programme each in their primary and secondary stages under the Mainland Exchange Programme for Junior Secondary and Upper Primary Students and the Mainland Exchange Programme for Secondary School Students.
The Education Bureau (EDB) organises the Mainland exchange programme for students entitled “An Exploration into the History, Culture, Natural Resources and Conservation in Ningxia (2023/24)” (the Programme). In line with the curriculum, the Programme aims to help students understand the history and culture of Ningxia, foster an appreciation for the natural landscape of Huang He and desert, know more about our country’s opportunities and challenges in developing natural resources, and recognise the importance of safeguarding ecological and resource security for national development, with a view to cultivating students’ sense of national identity.
This is a 5-day programme scheduled for 6 to 10 May 2024. Details and application procedures are attached at Annexes 1 to 3 (Chinese version only).
Student participation is on a voluntary basis. Schools should proactively encourage students who have not participated in any Mainland exchange programmes to join the Programme.
Each school can nominate at most two groups of participants (each group consists of 10 Secondary 3 to 6 students and 1 teacher) for the Programme. Interested schools are requested to return the completed application form (Chinese version only) to the Life-wide Learning and Mainland Exchange Section 2 of the EDB by email (cdolwlme24@edb.gov.hk) on or before 8 March 2024 (Friday). Late submissions will not be accepted.
