Organised by the Education Bureau (Applicable to Primary and Secondary Schools)

Thematic Mainland Exchange Programme for Secondary School Students (2024/25) (1)

Summary

This circular memorandum invites secondary schools (including special schools) to nominate Secondary 2 to 6 students and teachers (including principals) to participate in the captioned programme.

Details

It has been set out in the Chief Executive’s 2023 Policy Address that more opportunities will continuously be provided for students to participate in the Mainland study tours. The targets include reserving adequate places for all students in publicly‑funded schools to participate in at least one subsidised Mainland exchange programme each in their primary and secondary stages under the Mainland Exchange Programme for Junior Secondary and Upper Primary Students and the Mainland Exchange Programme for Secondary School Students.

The Education Bureau (EDB) organises “Thematic Mainland Exchange Programme for Secondary School Students (2024/25)(1)” (the Programme).  In line with the school curriculum, the Programme aims at providing different learning experiences for students to enhance their understanding of the arts, history, culture and economic development, etc. in the Mainland (including Beijing, Zhengzhou and Kaifeng), thereby enhancing their sense of national identity.

EDB has commissioned service providers to organise 2 tours outside the Guangdong Province, ranging from four to five days for Secondary 2 to 6 students, (the target participants may vary for each tour).  Please refer to Annex 1 (Chinese version only) for details of the Programme and application procedures, and Annex 2 (Chinese version only) for the itineraries and other information of these 2 tours.

Schools may apply for more than one tour in the 2024/25 school year.  Student participation is on a voluntary basis.  Schools should proactively encourage students who have not joined any Mainland exchange programmes before to participate in at least one subsidised Mainland exchange programme in their secondary stage.

Schools may apply for more than one tour in the 2024/25 school year.  Each school can nominate at most two groups of partcipants (each group consists of 10 students and 1 teacher) for the Programme.  Interested schools are requested to return the completed application form (Chinese version only) to the Life-wide Learning and Mainland Exchange Section 2 of the EDB by email before the deadline which indicated in Annex 1 (Chinese version only).  Late submissions will not be accepted.
